Design Background
I have a background in personal wardrobe styling and professional organizing. As a personal stylist, I specialized in closet decluttering and organizing, along with curating capsule wardrobes. My background helps me when I'm designing closets/storage solutions to understand how my client wants the space to flow and function for their belongings. I enjoy collaborating with clients while listening to their needs and wants and digging deep to figure out what they're hoping to accomplish. I aim to make the process as smooth as possible and enjoyable because after all it should be a fun experience creating something that's customizable and personal to your space.
Why California Closets
At California Closets we lay the foundation to create an organized space. I hope to create a sense of peace, order, beauty, and flow in the home for my clients while the outside world can seem chaotic.
Julie's Design Style
I'm embracing a minimalist lifestyle and living intentionally so I lean towards minimalism and clean lines while bringing in something "special" whether that's through different textures or adding a pop of color. I also like the idea of mixing something old with its character and charm with something new and modern. However, I do appreciate all design styles and being inspired by something I normally wouldn't gravitate towards.

I recently had a closet make over with California Closets and couldn’t be happier! Julie my consultant was wonderful to work with and her knowledge, expertise and suggestions were spot on. Shout out to Rufus the gentleman who installed the closet. He was very polite, respectful and had the closest installed in a timely manner. I am so pleased with this entire experience that I plan on having 2 more closets done with Julie and California Closets. My only regret is that I waited so long to do this project.- We had a fantastic experience from our designer , Julie to our installer Rufus. Julie was thorough, patient and detailed oriented in helping us design our closet to maximize our space to its fullest! As a visual person, I appreciated the software to help me visualize the completed design. Our installer, Rufus was punctual, efficient and did a great job with the install. There was no mess left behind. Thank you for a pleasant experience, will highly recommend!!!

- My experience with California Closet was wonderful. I wish I had done this so much sooner. My designer was Julie, and she was very professional, knowledgeable, and carefully listened to all my needs and ideas. With her expertise, she quickly designed an excellent closet layout for a section of our finished basement. The area was there and needed something to give character and functionality. Julie was super thorough and very patient with all my questions. She was meticulous about all the design ideas and made me feel confident that I was getting a finished product that I always wanted. The two installers were very professional and polite. They cleaned up after a one day install which was fantastic. California Closet is a bit more expensive than other companies, but the quality definitely justifies the higher price. I couldn’t have been more pleased with the experience and would highly recommend them to my friends/family for their closet needs.

- I hired California Closets 27 years ago to do lots of closets in my “new” home. When I wanted to turn a room into a closet I called them again. Julie Lawrence called me back quickly and we had a great conversation on the phone. She came in a short amount of time to design the closet with me. She looked at all of the clothes for the closet, measured and counted everything from ties to boots to dress shirts, slacks etc. She was very detail oriented and didn’t miss anything. It was a true pleasure to work with her. She’s straightforward, honest and efficient. She also has great design Ideas. The installation went quickly and was well done. Rufus was a gentle man and worked quickly and efficiently too. He was kind and courteous. Rufus also cleaned up better than any contractor I’ve ever hired. He used a magic eraser, a vacuum and a rag. Incredible. I’m thrilled with the entire process from start to finish and I love my new closet!!!
